SIXTY SECONDS IN TOUCH

first_imgWelcome to the latest installment of Touch news from around Australia…* The TFA office and State offices around Australia are getting busier than ever, as the lead up to the Christmas period becomes even more hectic. As if dodging the ever-growing crowds at our local shopping complexes isn’t busy enough, the Touch world is going strong with NSW and Qld holding their State Cups and the Australia Cup being held in conjunction with the Qld State Cup.The Australian Under 18 development camp is coming up in January, be watching www.austouch.com.au over the coming weeks, as I write profiles and stories on some of the up and coming players selected to take part in the Australian development camp. It’s fantastic to see such a talented and dedicated group of players looking to develop their skills and knowledge of the sport, so they can hopefully represent Australia at both a junior and senior level in the future.* The new Touch Football Australia logo has been the talk of the office in the past fortnight as designers, office staff and Professional officers from around Australia have been getting together to create a new logo for the sport. The logo is expected to be presented and hopefully approved by the Touch Football Australia board within the next couple of days, meaning that production can begin of referees gear and general merchandise with the new logo on them.* IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL REFEREES: For referees who are wanting gear with the new logo or needing gear that TFA currently don’t have in stock…we will be doing our absolute best to have this to you before your upcoming events. Angelo and his staff at Wilma (the referees gear supplier) will be working incredibly hard to have the gear ready for the NSW and Qld State Cups. For any referees needing gear for the State Cups, it would be appreciated if you can email your orders to [email protected] ASAP. By emailing the orders in early, we will have a better indication of the initial quantities we need made. Please indicate in your email or on your form whether you would like gear with the new logo (cost is full price) or the current logo (cost is sale price) if it is still in stock. Please use the gear order form found here:REFEREES GEAR ORDER FORMPlease also understand that is it a slow process to make all new gear, especially when there are so many different items that need to be made. Some items such as bags, walkshorts, tracksuits and socks may take several weeks longer than the basic shirts, skirts and shorts. We will be doing our best to have the new gear in ASAP. * In other State Cup news NSW Touch have announced that preliminary nominations are up to 185 teams. The Queensland State Cup and the Australia Cup is also going strong with teams from Victoria, ACT, NT and Japan looking to head to Kawana Waters, the venue of the 2005 Youth World Cup for the event.* As most will be aware, footwear company Azuma have recently signed on as official supporters of Touch Football Australia. In the next couple of weeks we’ll be beginning the sale of Azuma Touch shoes and also runners here in the National office. Keep an eye on our website for an awesome opening special combining the two shoe types. Azuma are keen to take feedback on their shoes and will be continually striving to create a product that is ideal for Touch players Australia wide. When the sales begin, we’ll provide you with details of who to contact if you have ideas or thoughts on the shoes. Over the next couple of months we’ll also be looking at establishing stocks of the shoes in as many State offices as possible, allowing you to purchase your shoes from either your State or National office. All stock will be sold at the same price Australia-wide. * Qld Touch are calling for nominations for the Level 2 Coaching Course inFebruary 2006, being held in Townsville. It’s been a couple of years since this has been done and we’re looking to refresh the page and style, as well as update some of the information. We’ll be looking at making the whole site, including My Club Touch and the Shop area easier to understand and navigate, as well as make resources, stories and information easier to access. We’ll keep you updated over the next few weeks with how it’s all progressing.* Touch Victoria will hold their State Affiliates Cup on December 10 at Betula Reserve, Doveton. For more info and registrations forms, simply visit www.victouch.com.au * Beach Touch is set to take centre stage in Western Australia again this summer. Each year the phenomenon continues to grow, as the popularity and number of teams increases. No doubt the social introduction to beach Touch for many encourages them to continue with regular Touch throughout the cooler seasons of the year. Check out www.touchwest.com for all the info. * With the 2006 Azuma NTL just around the corner, there have been plenty of phone calls and emails to the TFA office regarding age requirements and selection for the 2007 World Cup. If you’re unsure of anything please read the following story: AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE 2006 AZUMA NTL* Remember if you have any events to list on the TFA Calendar of Events on our website, simply email the details to [email protected] To view the calendar of events please click here: CALENDAR OF EVENTSBy Rachel Grant, [email protected]last_img
