Joanna Lumley Raises £15000 For The Princes Trust

first_imgAs one of The Prince’s Trust’s Celebrity Ambassadors, Joanna Lumley is invaluable in raising the profile of The Prince’s Trust, but she’s also been out there raising money too.On Tuesday 13th November Joanna Lumley hosted an auction where 50 of her fabulous costumes and outfits were sold by expert auctioneer Kerry Taylor. The sale raised £15,000 and saw Joanna gracing the Daybreak sofa as well as the pages of the Daily Mail and Evening Standard to talk about why she was raising funds for The Trust.Joanna said: “It was huge fun selling off some of my most famous wardrobe treasures. I’m thrilled that the clothes will get a second life with their new owners and that young people will benefit from the funds the sale has contributed to The Prince’s Trust.”Bidders sipped champagne, kindly donated by M&S, while they fought hard to bag costumes worn by Joanna’s Absolutely Fabulous alter ego Patsy Stone (who would never be seen dead in last season’s fashions, sweetie!) alongside vintage designer pieces from Chanel, Pucci and Betty Jackson.Joanna joined Kerry on the rostrum, and as each lot was offered for sale Joanna reminisced about the pieces and their significance in her life and career including Lot 25, the Betty Jackson suit she wore to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ wedding which ‘had all the crown heads of Europe swishing past it’.Auctioneer Kerry Taylor said: “It was a truly memorable auction – made even more special by having the fabulous Joanna Lumley with us. This wasn’t just another auction. It was an event!”Joanna added: “It’s sad to say goodbye to some of my favourite clothes. But I can keep the happy memories they represent, and the money raised will help vital work to support young people across the UK, so everybody wins!”Source:Prince’s Trustlast_img
